Journal History

PASE: Journal of Contemporary Islamic Education was established in 2022 as a scholarly initiative of the Postgraduate Program of UIN Sultanah Nahrasiyah Lhokseumawe (formerly IAIN Lhokseumawe). The journal emerged as part of the university’s academic commitment to advancing Islamic educational research that bridges classical Islamic scholarship with contemporary educational development.

Initially, PASE was launched to provide an open academic platform for researchers, scholars, educators, and practitioners to publish critical and innovative studies in the field of Islamic education. Its primary focus is on promoting contemporary Islamic educational practices across diverse learning institutions, including madrasah (Islamic schools), dayah or pesantren (Islamic boarding schools), and Islamic universities.

Since its inception, PASE has been managed by a professional editorial team under the Postgraduate Program, integrating the local wisdom of Aceh’s Islamic educational traditions with the global perspective of modern Islamic education. The journal continues to grow as an open-access, peer-reviewed publication that upholds academic quality, ethical standards, and global visibility.

In line with its vision, PASE aims to become a reputable academic platform that contributes to the enrichment of contemporary Islamic education discourse, both nationally and internationally.
