About the Journal
PASE: Journal of Contemporary Islamic Education is an open-access, peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Postgraduate Program of Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sultanah Nahrasiyah Lhokseumawe, Indonesia. Established in 2022, this journal serves as a scholarly platform for researchers, educators, and practitioners to share original studies, theoretical developments, and innovative practices in the field of Islamic education.
The journal focuses on contemporary issues and challenges in Islamic educational institutions, emphasizing the integration of traditional Islamic values with modern educational paradigms. It seeks to promote research that contributes to the development, innovation, and transformation of Islamic education in both formal and non-formal contexts — including madrasahs, dayahs (pesantrens), and Islamic higher education.
PASE publishes high-quality empirical and conceptual research articles, review papers, and case studies written in English or Bahasa Indonesia. The journal welcomes interdisciplinary approaches that bridge Islamic education with broader fields such as curriculum development, teacher education, learning environments, and educational technology.
All submitted manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer-review process to ensure academic quality and integrity. PASE upholds an open-access policy, allowing readers to freely access and download published articles without subscription or payment barriers, in accordance with the principle that knowledge should be freely available to support global educational advancement.
The journal is published twice a year (June and December) and indexed by several national and international databases.
